Features of MULTICAST

Multicast is simply known as that a single sender is communicated with the multiple receivers on network. Multicasting is a communication process that plays an important role in a network environment. Multicast offers the ability to pick and choose who on the network will receive the communication, and delivers the message to all selected users at one time. Multicasting is mostly used for sending a packet stream data’s like audio, video, etc from one location to many other locations on the internet. Multicast technology is directed towards distributed applications. Multicast routing uses two components like, the subscribers and the routers. Conventional networks are the heart of multicasting. A multicast address is designed to enable the delivery of datagram’s to a set of crowds configured as members of a multicast group in various sub networks. The main disadvantage of multicast is as it is a push technology in which a server sends data to a client without the client requesting it.
