Different terms of amplifiers are used like power amplifier, tube amplifier, and valve amplifier. The speaker cable carries the audio signal as a low current. Consequently we can use smaller-gauge speaker cable, or very long cable runs, without losing excessive power. In high-voltage operation we can more easily provide the amplifier with a matching load. A high-voltage system is that we can hang hundreds of speakers in parallel on a single amplifier output, when we provide a matching load.
