A stealth virus is a computer virus that uses a variety of methods to avoid detection by antivirus software. A stealth virus is a virus that hides its tracks after infecting the computer. Usually, when an antivirus program runs, a stealth virus secrete itself in memory, and uses various actions and also hide changes it has made to any files or boot records. A high-quality antivirus program should be able to obtain a stealth virus through appearing for evidence in memory as well as in areas that viruses normally attack.

Once the computer has been infected, the virus can make alterations to allocate the computer to show that it has not lost any memory and that the file size has not changed. Virus coders mainly use the stealth method to avoid virus scanners. Anti-virus software is not compulsory to eliminate a stealth virus rather than self maintenance. In common, a stealth virus will conceal itself in system memory every time a program scanner is run. Stealth virus utilize many method to hide any changes so that when the scanner appears for changed sections, the virus transmit it to any area that contains the clean, uninfected data.
